Revolution Community: Leading Youth to Live Revolutionary Lives
God is calling up a new generation of young leaders to lead our community and our world. Our calling in the Revolution Community is radical in its simplicity: mentoring students, at a strategic point in their personal and spiritual development, through life-on-life relationships to draw near to God’s heart, learn to love others and lead their generation. Simply by teaching our students to live, love and lead as Jesus did we see profound heart transformation and the passion to lead a generation.

Our Mission and Vision
The Mission of the United Methodist Church is to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world.
The strategic Mission of Oak Grove UMC is to Create Life Changing Communities through Jesus Christ.
The Mission of the Revolution Community is to disciple youth in the Revolutionary way of Jesus Christ.
Revolutionary Leadership…Growing the Kingdom One Student At a Time
Discipleship: The heart of our training is centered on fostering an intimate relationship with God — listening to and obeying God’s voice.
Leadership: God is raising up next generation leaders. Our job is to identify and equip them to lead with courage, then follow with character.
Service: Jesus said, “I came to serve, not to be served”. We seek to empower students to follow their passions to make a difference to the least and lost.
Outreach: The cycle is complete when we send students into the world to confidently multiply His Kingdom throughout the world. We believe in spiritual multiplication.
2011 Plan
We believe that God is calling on Oak Grove to build upon our strong foundation and heritage. But we believe that greater things are yet to come in this city!
- To deepen the discipleship community through small group offerings, in-depth Bible studies, intentional life-on-life mentoring and powerful worship experiences.
- To establish the Oak Grove Student Leadership Center to identify, invest and intentionally train our next generation leaders. To empower and equip students to rise to the call of leadership and change our world with a contagious passion for Christ.
- To unleash the passions of our students and empower them to make a difference in our community and world. To establish a long-term, sustainable service program that has a significant impact as the hands and feet of Jesus.
- To offer multiple short term mission trips to give our students perspective and foster a sense of gratitude.
- To partner with other like-minded Kingdom organizations to reach the students of our community. Offer programming that is relevant and exciting to enable relationship evangelism.
Immeasurable Goals
- To identify, ignite and mentor into maturity the next generation leaders in our community.
- To see life transformation within our students & their families.
- To build upon the foundation and ensure the sustainability of Oak Grove as a vital part of spiritual development in our community.
- To set the groundwork for an ongoing work to disciple youth in the Revolutionary way of Jesus Christ.
Where are we Going
The Revolution ministry at Oak Grove is only at the beginning. The energy and enthusiasm by students, leaders & parents bring me to truly believe that God has great plans for us. “Greater things are yet to come…..in this city” has become a theme song in my mind.
Moving into 2011, we see an opportunity to begin our I⁴L vision to identify, invest, inspire, ignite and launch mature Christian youth into college and life. We see the opportunity to establish a platform for training and modeling the vision of servant leadership Christ gave us.
We believe that God has uniquely positioned us to establish a Leadership Center for Discipling and Empowering students to find their passions for Service & Mission projects. When we do this we will send our students into the world, confident with their identity in Christ, to go and make disciples of all nations.
We have a God-sized vision and we expect our students to have a God-sized impact on our community and our world!
Following the Call,
Robin Merrill
